Sara Baer (yeah, you read that right) comes to Coven from Summit Salon Academy in Tacoma, WA. A Seattle native, Sara's natural talent and enthusiasm for hair shows in every aspect of her work. A bold color and balayage enthusiast, Sara also loves doing creative undercut work and bangin' blowouts. She excels at curly cuts of all textures, bobs and has a certain affection for bangs. Special occasion styles and updos and textured cuts are also in her realm of expertise.
Sara's continued expert education includes finishing her apprenticeship in house at Coven Salon, attending classes at Bumble & bumble NYC, as well as with Roxie Jane Hunt and Deva Curl. This young lady aspires to be the best she can possibly be within her craft and it shows in every aspect of her work, from her thorough consultations to her gorgeous finishes. Originally from California, Dez started her career and apprenticeship with Alexis and Emily back at good old VAIN Beauty World and after a six year intermission, is back in the Pacific Northwest on the permanent and available to do your hair. Is your hair naturally textured? Fantastic, Dez is your curl’s new best friend. Dez has worked extensively with textured hair of all kinds for the entirety of her career and is passionate about making you feel good about what’s already happening on your head. She wants to help you figure out how to work with it, streamline and enhance it. Dez’s advanced education has some serious bragging rights; she has taken classes with Bumble & bumble NYC, Jayne of Edo Salon, Roxie Jane Hunt and she is (almost) a Great Lengths Extensions certified expert.
With an expertise that spans beyond natural curl and texture, Dez also excels in precision cutting, dreads, extensions, braiding and extreme color. Her training began at Gene Juarez, followed up with an apprenticeship and was polished in the professional world over the course of the last nine years. Dez is classically trained, an excellent listener and open to anything; with her you don’t have to dream it, you can be it.
When Dez isn’t working her magic and making hair dreams come true, she loves spending time with her children, her dog and working on tattoos.

Katy joins us all the way from St. Louis, Missouri. After attending an in-house class at Coven by famed hairdresser Roxie Jane Hunt (Free Your Hair) last August, Katy fell in love with the joint! Who could blame her? She set out across the country to begin her west coast hairdressing career with us, and we couldn't be more thrilled that she's come aboard.
Katy's advanced training is heavy weighted. She has studied under Ryan Weeden (Masters of Balayage), Rebecca Taylor, and Hanzo, to name a few. Katy has trained extensively with curl experts in her sphere, cultivating an understanding of texture that spans far and wide. Seattle's newest curl expert HAS arrived!
Katy's specialties include creative color, blonding and “unconventional” hair. Weird colors and cuts are some of her favorite things to do. She also really enjoys the unlimited possibilities of balayage/foilayage/platinum card techniques. There's really nothing Katy can't cut; she's comfortable with all textures and is ready to make your next vision a reality.

Belinda is a small town Washington native who left the country life for the big city as soon as she possibly could. Now more than 20 years later, she has been an icon of eyebrows and makeup throughout Seattle.
A small obsession with her own eyebrows and makeup as a kid parlayed into working as a laser hair and tattoo removal technician. After a couple years of smelling like burnt hair she moved on to more holistic skincare and started working at an AVEDA salon. After intense facial and body care training, Belinda became the spa director and national educator for AVEDA cosmetics. All of this brought many opportunities like photo shoots, hair and fashion shows, and even a movie. She’s had her makeup published in local print like The Stranger and Seattle Magazine and many other publications around the globe.
Her latest endeavor has been Microblading! Over 20 years of eyebrow expertise, this meticulous cosmetic tattooing technique was the next natural step in her career and she is conquering the hell out of it.
Now offering eyebrow grooming at Coven!
Aubrey Schoonmaker has been doing makeup for the last six years. Enhancing each person’s individual beauty has always been something that she’s admired in others and considered a personal hobby but she never really considered doing it professionally. Like most natural artists, one day she just thought, “what is stopping me from doing that?” and the answer was absolutely nothing! So she picked up a brush and never really looked back.
Aubrey is 100% self taught and most of her education has been through experiences shared with clients and on set. Aubrey’s ideal client and all time favorite thing to do is to make someone feel beautiful without losing themselves in a sea of products. Each person she works with is beautiful without all of the things stores tell us we “need”. Aubrey wants you to feel comfortable and see yourself with just with a little extra sparkle and loves creating that for someone’s special day, helping find your new date night look or even just mastering your daily routine!
Call on Aubrey for almost any makeup or beauty routine need! She does makeup for all occasions; weddings, parties, birthdays, engagement shoots, photo shoots, “how to’s” and much much more. Just ask! Give us a call, text or email to set up your own time with Aubrey today.
Alexis made her way to Seattle via Tulsa, OK where she was the creative director of Rhett & Co. For more than 19 years, Alexis has been using her powers for good, providing her largely multi-racial clientele with an expert understanding of how to really work with hair; she's never met a curl that she couldn't make friends with.
Alexis has trained extensively with Aveda, is a certified Deva Inspired Stylist and was featured in 2011 by Seattle Magazine with accolades for her textured, curly/afro haircutting and styling skills. She makes a point of keeping current on styles and techniques by taking classes by Bumble & bumble, Ruth Roche and Ted Gibson. In addition, she has also been a guest speaker at Patsy Collins’ Adventures in Leadership camp at Camp Orkila on Orcas Island.
Emily has been in the beauty industry for 17 years and comes to the Pacific Northwest by way of Chicago. Both blessed and cursed with a curly mane, Emily specializes in meticulously messy and technically tousled looks like her own. She is a certified Deva Inspired Stylist who has been featured on Off Beat Bride for her wedding styles. Emily also works as a Network Educator for Bumble & bumble.
Besides keeping the curls under control, she specializes in blonde hues, razor cuts, wave enhancing, organic updos and dimensional color. She is particularly honored to have developed a rapport with the curl community in her years of hairdressing in Seattle. As someone who lives the reality she likes to untangle (literally) the issues at hand.
